Charlotte was raised in Lincoln, NE. and graduated from Lincoln High school. She was a proud member of the Aqua-links. She attended University of Nebraska Lincoln, graduating with a degree in Home Economics and earned her Educators/Teaching Certificate. She was Sigma Kappa Sorority sister and remained active throughout her life.
Charlotte was united in love and marriage to Grant Ronald Peters, Murdock, NE., in 1957. To this union three daughters were born, Susanne, Kimberly, and Deborah. Charlotte was a care taker and family meant everything to her. She created cherished memories for her family, from home knitted sweaters to beautiful Christmas stocking. Charlotte cherished her family and never missed the opportunity to tell them she loved them.
Charlotte later met Elmer R. Hermes and they were united in marriage July 1970. She welcomed his five children into her life. She was an avid golfer and swimmer, spending her youth and adulthood at Hillcrest Country Club. Charlotte loved camping and was a member of LOW and was an avid traveler.
Later in life, she reunited in love to Grant Ronald Peters. They enjoyed travel, huge family vacations, and attending plays and musicals at the Loft and the Lied Center. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Murdock, NE., and enjoyed being a member of the Trinity Lady aids. She was blessed with faith, friends, and a home at Trinity Lutheran.
Survivors cherishing her memory include Grant Ronald Peters, Murdock, NE; daughters Susanne Burton, Stone Mountain, GA., Kimberly McGill, Seward, NE., and Deborah (Michael) Carney, Chico, TX.; and four stepchildren; grandchildren Tesha Burton, Stone Mountain, GA., Kyle (Michaela) Cockrell, Seward, NE., Scott (Shaina) Cockrell, Lincoln NE., Ashley Burton, Decatur, GA., Tyler (Kristin) Carney, Paducah, KY., Trent (Catherine) Carney, Greenwood, NE., and numerous step grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother James Johnson; nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents, brothers Raymond and William Johnson, Elmer Hermes, and one step son.
Funeral service: 9:00 am Wednesday, May 24, 2023, Trinity Lutheran Church, 31104 Church Rd., Murdock, NE. Burial in Trinity Lutheran Churchyard.
A prayer service will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at 6:00 pm followed by family greeting friends until 8:00 pm at the church.
