Charles worked his entire adult life in various positions with Bladen Builder’s Supply, Carolina Woodcutters and Taylor Oil Company among others. He begrudgingly retired at the age of 79 from his last job as a porter for Crossroads Ford in Cary, NC.
Family members include his wife, Jewel; son Charlie (Mary) Byrd, Jr.; grandchildren Aaron (Grace) Sartin, Emily Caroline Sartin, Ben Byrd, Matt Byrd, Jon Byrd, Callie Dreibelbis, Charlie Byrd III, and Caroline Byrd; son-in-law Mickey Sartin; sister Agnes Stallings; brother Harold (Pam) Byrd; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his daughter Charlene Byrd Sartin; brother Robert Byrd; sisters Miriam Woodell, and Ruth Butler.
Memorial service: 6:00 p.m. Saturday, May 4, 2024, Roper and Sons South Lincoln Chapel, 3950 Hohensee Drive, Lincoln, NE.
