Obituary

Charlene Rogers

August 16, 1952 - April 15, 2024

Charlene Rogers, a cherished wife, devoted mother, adored grandmother, beloved aunt, and treasured friend, departed from this world on April 15th, leaving behind a legacy of love and generosity that will forever be remembered.

Charlene was the daughter of Lois and Neil Hansen and sibling to Sandi Lewis (Charles), Pam Gardels (Mike), Paula Hulke (Kevin), and Brian Hansen (Kris).

She was the beloved wife of Calvin Rogers for 53 years. Together, they shared a bond that exemplified the true meaning of partnership and devotion. Char was a devoted mother to Trish Lopacienski (Ed) and Tysie Cournoyer (Cale). Her unwavering love and guidance shaped their lives in profound ways, and her legacy will continue to live on through them.

As a grandmother to Max and Abe Lopacienski, Charlene found immense joy in showering her grandchildren with love and affection. Her presence brought light to their lives, and the memories they shared will forever hold a special place in their hearts.

Charlene’s nurturing spirit knew no bounds. Her delicious pancakes, cookies, and Chex Mix brought joy to countless gatherings. She was unwavering in her support and she touched the lives of everyone she encountered. Her generous heart knew no limits, and she selflessly gave her time and attention to those around her, always looking out for the well-being of others.

Charlene’s presence illuminated the lives of all who knew her, and her absence leaves a void that can never be filled. Though she may have departed, her spirit lives on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have been touched by her love.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Capital Humane Society or Southwood Lutheran Church in her memory.

A celebration of Charlene’s life will be held on Monday, April 22nd at 2:00 at Southwood Lutheran Church, where family and friends will gather for a service to honor her memory and share stories after at a coffee reception.

May she rest in peace, knowing that her light will continue to shine brightly in the lives of all who knew her.

I have only known Char for a short time, but enjoyed her immensely. Our visits with Char at HyVee coffee will be missed by all her friends and her sister Sheri. I’m happy Char was a part of my life.
