Cecelia Baumeister, 65, of Lincoln, passed peacefully Sunday, January 13, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. After a successful valve replacement surgery on her heart in September she had been dealing with a series of unfortunate setbacks. A retired teacher of 41 years in the Lincoln Public Schools, she was committed to the great purpose that she found in her life’s work. She had a lifelong passion for antiques and Americana and would have fit right in on History Channel’s “American Pickers,” a show which she loved. She was also an avid gardener and could be seen most summer days beautifying the landscaping around her family home in the brutal heat, working with a seemingly endless supply of energy and enthusiasm.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Anna May Griffitts and is survived by husband, John Baumeister, sister, Sandra Piersol, children, Matthew (Jennifer) Baumeister, Meghen (Aaron) Gaudreault, and her two beloved grandchildren, Dean and Ivy Gaudreault.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at Roper and Sons at 4300 O St. on Thursday, January 17 at 11:00am with Steve Mason officiating.
Memorials may be given in to First Christian Church, 430 South 16th Street, Lincoln, NE 68508. No Visitation/Cremation.
