Obituary

Carreen O’Brien

March 26, 1964 - July 24, 2025

Carrie O’Brien passed away peacefully after experiencing complications related to kidney issues.

Carrie was a vibrant and creative soul with a deep love for life’s simple joys. She had a passion for art—especially pottery and painting—and was a regular participant at Live Yes Studios, where she expressed herself boldly and beautifully.

A true fan of all things glamorous, Carrie adored jewelry (especially her signature hoop earrings), loved shopping, and never missed a chance to get her hair and nails done—often choosing hair colors as bold and colorful as her personality. She embraced sparkle, sass, and self-expression in everything she did.

She was also a devoted WWE fan, and anyone who spent time with Carrie quickly came to know her infectious energy and signature “Carrie chair-shaking laugh” that could light up any room.

Carrie had a sharp mind and a generous heart. She was deeply intuitive and used her insight to advocate for others, serving with dedication through the League of Human Dignity and Aktion Club. Her compassion and fierce loyalty made her a cherished friend and a trusted voice in her community.

Carrie graduated from Lincoln East High School and remained deeply connected to her hometown throughout her life. She also spent meaningful time living in both Kentucky and Mississippi, where she made lasting memories and lifelong friendships.

She is survived by her brothers Dan Marsh and Rick Marsh, both of Lincoln; and sisters Piper Porras of Omaha, NE; Brenda (Bill) Komma of Topeka, KS; Diane Holdren of Kansas City, MO; Patricia Holdren of Lincoln, NE; Melanie (Ted) Buettner of St. Edward, NE; and Stephanie (Randy) Van Meter of Boise, ID. She is also survived by her nephew Preston Marsh, and nieces Shaley Fricke and Ally Marsh, all of Lincoln.

Carrie was preceded in death by her parents, Diane K. Marsh and George L. Marsh, along with several beloved family members who no doubt welcomed her home with open arms.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Dallas Dils, Carrie’s best friend and devoted caregiver, for the love, laughter, and companionship he gave her.

And Dallas—Carrie can’t even with you right now!

I am Nathan Marsh and my mom took care of Carrie when I was just a young kid. She is my cousin and she will be forever missed. She would order WWF pay per view all the time and I absolutely loved going to her place and watching Hulk Hogan kick some butt. I will never forget those days and her beautiful chair shaking laugh. You will be forever missed. Love your cousin Nathan

Carrie, you were a force of nature. Everyone you touched was changed for the better. You taught me so very much about what can be accomplished with persistence and grit. I am so grateful for our times together.

As the Kiwanis Advisor for the Lincoln Aktion Club, it was an honor to have her as a leader in our club. She brought energy, insight, and fun to our meetings and activities. She was the last Charter member in our club, which was organized over 20 years ago.

I had only met Carrie a couple of times, however I felt like I knew slot about her because my sister Carrie Fielder spoke of her often! My sister would tell about her sense of humor and how she always made her laugh! My sister loved what she did ; she put her whole heart into it and now they will meet again! I am sorry and I know Carrie will be deeply missed
