Obituary

Carol Hoover

November 10, 1937 - August 5, 2025

Carol Hoover, 87, of Lincoln, went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, August 5, 2025. Carol was born to Leroy and Clara Caves of Lincoln, NE. She lived a life rich with love, faith, and service.

In 1958, she married the love of her life, Raymond Neal Hoover, and together they built a life in Lincoln. Carol was a devoted member of the Rosemont Alliance and Lincoln Berean churches, where she lived her faith daily and inspired many to follow Jesus.

Carol dedicated herself to her family, serving as a stay-at-home mom until her sons reached middle school. With love and dedication, she created a nurturing home filled with support and respect. She started an in-home machine quilting business, Quality Quilting by Carol. Alongside her husband Ray, she co-founded The Board Store, a custom furniture business. She also worked in the offices at Bryan Heart.

As a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Carol cherished every moment spent with her family. She loved nothing more than playing games, antiquing with Ray, and engaging in crafts with her grandchildren. Carol was an active participant in church groups such as Young at Heart and participated in various mission groups that Ray and she supported wholeheartedly. She rarely missed her grandchildren’s performances or games always beaming with pride at their accomplishments.

Carol is survived by her loving sons, Russ (Kathy) Hoover and Randy (Susan) Hoover; her grandchildren, Dan (Meghan), Natalie (Alex) Slocum, Kaylee and Ryan (fiancé Rossi Sanford); and her great-grandchildren, Connor and Caleb Hoover, Rose and Violet Slocum. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law, Lucille Caves, and many nieces and nephews. Carol was preceded in death by her beloved husband Ray, and her sisters Elinor, Helen, Francis, and Betty, and her brother George.
