Byron Austin Dye

September 16, 1918 - February 20, 2008

Byron Austin Dye, 89, Lincoln, died Wednesday (2-20-08) in Kansas City, MO. Born Severance, KS (9-16-1918) to Harley Anson and Hattie (Mercer) Dye. Ret. 1984, Manager of Training and Development for Dorsey Labs for 33 years. WWII Air Corps Veteran.

Byron grew up in St. Joseph, MO and attended Central High School. Worked for Wyeth Hardware Company. After serving in both the infantry and Air Corp during WWII graduated from the University of Southern California in 1949. Started working with Dorsey Labs as a pharmaceutical representative and advanced through several positions in the sales department.

Member of the American Legion Post; V.I.E. (Volunteers Intervening For Equity);
Awarded the Sertoma Award of the Year in 2002; was active in volunteer work at Saint Elizabeth’s Regional Medical Center and Lancaster Manor; past member of Hillcrest Country Club.

Family members include a son: William G. Dye, Kansas City, MO; Preceded in death by wife – Gretchen, parents, brothers: Virgil and Wayne Dye., sisters: Merle Howard and Deva Isley.

Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 15th, Roper and Sons Chapel, 4300 ‘O’ Street Rev. Dr. Robert Chitwood officiating.

No visitation/cremation.

Memorials in lieu of flowers to Saint Elizabeth’s Regional Medical Center Foundation, 555 South 70th (10).
