Obituary

Bonnie L. Cederberg

June 25, 1947 - November 26, 2024

Bonnie Louise Cederberg, 77, of Lincoln passed away on November 26, 2024, from a sudden resurgence of cancer. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Bonnie was born on June 25, 1947, to Leon and Adelaide (Mullineaux) Butler in Washington, D.C.

After graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1965, she attended the Washington School for Secretaries. She worked as a legal secretary for the U.S. Department of Justice and the law firm of Caplin & Drysdale.

In 1968, she met John Cederberg (there’s a story to that!) and they were married on June 20, 1970. She continued working as a legal secretary until their first child was born. In January 1976, they moved to Lincoln where Bonnie raised her two children (Erika and Kevin), managed and decorated their home, adjusted to Nebraska weather (and better traffic), and became a loyal Husker fan.

Throughout the years, Bonnie loved bowling in several different leagues. She especially enjoyed the friends she made in her Wednesday league. She liked solving crossword puzzles, tending flowerbeds, sending gifts and cards (with her beautiful handwriting), and cheering for her grandchildren. She loved and was so proud of everyone in her large extended family.

Family members include her husband John; children Erika Hamilton (Charles) and Kevin Cederberg (Sarah Hulvershorn); grandchildren Trinity Hamilton, Xavier Hamilton, Bradley Cederberg, and Wesley Cederberg; sisters Jane Stafford and Carol Baker; sister-in-law Verdell Cederberg; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law Alvin Cederberg.

After the memorial service, the family invites you to join them for a lunch reception.

Memorial service: 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 2, 2024, at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 8550 Pioneers Blvd. in Lincoln. Lunch reception to follow.

I will always remember Bonnie’s friendliness, warmth, and the interest she took in the well-being of others. At Nebraska Chamber of Commerce events, Bonnie and John were always the first to say hello. Thoughts and many prayers to John and his family during this very difficult time.

So very sorry to hear this. Bonnie and John were neighbor’s to my mother for a few years (Donna Essman). I got to know Bonnie while working in my mom’s yard and we had some great conversations while out front doing something. My mother always appreciated both Bonnie and John helping her out if ever needed. So very sorry for your family’s loss. Our deepest sympathy to all of you. Amy Arndt & Donna Essman

Bonnie and John have been long time partners and friends since the early begginings of Touche Ross in Nebraska in the 1970’s. I always enjoyed Bonnie’s wit and humor. She was so supportive of John and the family. Moved to Nebraska from DC where she grew up but quickly learned to love the state. She will be missed by all and Jan and I are both Blessed by knowing her. She was a special person and so committed to her family.

– John and Jan Connor
