Betty R Booth, 93, of Lincoln, NE, died Sunday, (12-8-13) in Whiting, IA surrounded by her 2 daughters. Born on (8-9-20) to Bryon J and Grace E. (Lesh) Smith of Lincoln, NE. She graduated from Lincoln High school in 1941 and married the love of her life, Gale R Booth on July 30, of that year. They shared 63 years of marriage until Gale’s death in 2004. Betty then left Lincoln and moved to Whiting, IA to live with her daughter Kay.
Her younger days often found her working at Smith’s Dairy owned by her father, BJ Smith. Betty was active in a Cribbage Club, Bowling League, and spent many hours playing cards with her friends and family. She also enjoyed the many years spent with family and friends at their cabin in South Bend, NE.
She is survived by her daughters, Kay Haveman of Whiting, Nancy Booth and Partner Pat Carlson of Kansas City, MO.; grandson Bill Swoboda (Tammy) of Homer, NE, great-granddaughter, Amber Thompkins(Eric)and great great grandson Kelby of Elk Point, SD, Amie Pleskac (Tony) and great great granddaughter Hadley of Gretna, NE. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gale, grandson David Swoboda, son-in-law Randy Haveman, siblings and spouses, Don Smith(Lucy), Robert Smith (Evelyn) all of Lincoln, NE;. Delores(Bill) Ford of Pensacola, FL., Gerry Booth(Bernice) of Lincoln, NE.
We would like to thank the staff of Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting for the great care and love they showed our Mom during her last years. There will be a Graveside Service in April, 2014. Another notice will be published prior to the services.
