Betty Lou Jeffries Mendoza

August 23, 1939 - January 15, 2013

Betty Lou Jeffries Mendoza earned her angel wings on January 15, 2013. She was born August 23, 1939 in Odell, NE to Clyde and Lucille Jeffries.

Survivors: Richard Z. (husband), Jim Greenlee and Tammy Mendoza Greenlee (daughter), and Richard W. and Jackie Mendoza (son). Elizabeth Mendoza and Zachary Mendoza (grandchildren). Betty Lou was from a large family from Lincoln, NE. She has two brothers Gene Jefferies and Bob Jefferies and sister Judy Heim and many Nieces and Nephews, which she loved with her whole heart.

Betty Lou attended Northeast High school in Lincoln, NE and graduated in 1957. She met her husband Richard Z Mendoza and was married in 1959 at United Lutheran Church in Lincoln. She was married to Dick for 53 years and had two children Tammy Mendoza Greenlee and Richard Mendoza. She attended the University of Nebraska Lincoln and obtained a degree in Home Economics. She worked for the Lincoln Association of Life Underwriters for 20 years. After employment ended with the Underwriters, she was an Affirmation Action Officer for the University of NE-Lincoln.

Betty Lou was part of several prestigious organizations, Peace Lutheran Church in Waverly, the Firemen’s Wife Ancillary, TOPS, and Kappa Omicron Nu. Betty Lou’s family was her whole life. No matter how tired she was she attended every football game and horse show that her grandchildren where involved in. Betty Lou will always be remembered as a family being the most important thing in her life. Betty Lou had another family at the Waverly Care Center; they loved her like she was part of all their families. She was affectionately known as “HOLLYWOOD BETTY.” She made everyone feel like they were the most important person in her world. Betty Lou will always be cherished and missed. We love you always in our thoughts and always in our hearts.

Service: 10:30 am Saturday (1-19-13) Peace Lutheran Church, 9031 N. 145th Street, Waverly, NE with Pastor Neil Wheeler officiating. Burial in Rosehill Cemetery.

Memorials to the family for future designation.

Visitation: 2–7 pm Friday with family present 5–7 pm at Roper and Sons Waverly Chapel, 10851 N. 148th
