Tripp was an avid outdoorsman, and loved fishing and hunting with an equal passion. He honed his fly-fishing skills while living in Colorado, becoming a fly-fishing guide. When he wasn’t working at the Pitkin County Airport in Aspen, he was either guiding, fishing for his own enjoyment or hunting whatever might be in season. He also developed a love and talent for gardening. One of his favorite things was to grow the newest, hottest variety of chili peppers…just to see how hot they really were. He also enjoyed cooking and loved to find new ways to prepare all the meat that he brought home from his hunting trips.
In 2017, Tripp returned to his home state of Nebraska to be closer to family and Husker football. He worked with his cousins as a heavy equipment operator and still found time to fish and hunt. In 2020, Tripp met Michelle Mazour. He knew she was the one because Bojo, his crazy dog and best buddy, approved of her immediately. Tripp and Michelle enjoyed cooking and gardening together and he even allowed her to add flowers to their garden. They shared a great sense of humor and loved to make each other laugh. They were side by side through COVID and Michelle was by his side when he passed.
In addition to Michelle and Bojo, survivors include parents, Arthur and Rosemary Dobson of Lincoln; sisters, Deb (Scott) Mecom of Omaha and Vicki (Jeff) Dobson Matthies of White Bear Lake, MN; nieces, Jennifer (Alex) Daly, Sara (Jeremy) Huspek and nephews Arthur (Haley) Mecom and Danny Swenson; and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jane Butler Dobson; grandparents Robert and Lucille Dobson, Clarence and Mabel Butler; and his uncle, Robert C. Dobson.
