Obituary

Anne Morrow

May 20, 1936 - August 20, 2025

Anne Desmond Morrow, 89, of Lincoln passed away peacefully on August 20th with family and her beloved dog Shane by her side.  Born May 20, 1936, in Lincoln, NE to John and Aileen (Sullivan) Desmond.

Anne, the mother of Thomas Jr. and Mary Burke, treasured the outdoors and her acreage.  She loved having her friends, nieces, and nephews visit Morrow Way for walks on the nature trail and fishing in the pond.  She loved travel and adventure, hiking the 192-mile Wainwright Trail across England at 78 years old.

She was a die-hard Husker fan attending every home game from the time Tom started for the Huskers during the Osborn era until she was in her late 80s.  She loved her dogs, especially Mary Burke’s competition dogs that often visited their “Grandma Anne”.

An elementary education major from UNL, Anne was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and continued an annual Kappa pledge class holiday for many years.  She was a member of the Lincoln Country Club enjoying her monthly lunch group until her passing.

Preceded in death by her parents, husband Thomas, brother John Gerald Desmond Jr. (Sally) and sister Mary Fraizer (Ted)

I’m so sorry for your loss. I sure enjoyed my visits with Anne. We had some mutual connections that we liked to visit about, and both of our Dad’s were in the lumber visit. We of course both had a true love for mountain dew and dogs of course. Anne was always “Grandma Anne” to my black lab Gidget. She was a real kindred spirit, and was so caring and gracious. She will be remembered fondly.

Thank you for bringing Anne to us, she was such a pleasure to get to know and take care of. And of course Shane was a huge bonus for us too. She knew my face, my voice and my routine I had with her and she knew she could always count on me. I will miss her deeply. I’m sorry for your loss. Cedear creek of high plains, Chelsea.

Dear Tom and Burke; I have so many wonderful memories of your mom and your entire family. We had such great trips together! Those trips were filled with lots of laughter. Your mom always made me smile. I am so sorry to hear of her passing but I know that you have even more memories to share that will help to make her passing less painful. Love to you both during this difficult time,
