Allena B. Lewis, 84, of Lincoln, passed away December 15, 2021, in Wahoo. Born June 18, 1937, in Casper, WY to Floyd and Nadine (Brown) Jones.

Allena was a graduate of the University of Nebraska. She was an instructor at Southeast Community College for 25 years teaching commercial art. Allena was a member of the First Baptist Church and Lincoln Advertising Club.

Family members include her sons Daniel (Bobbie Jo) Lewis, Ceresco, and David (Holly) Lewis, Martell, grandson Andrew Allan Lewis. Preceded in death by her parents, husband Allan, and brother Larry Jones.

Funeral Service: 1:00 pm Wednesday (12-22-21) Roper and Sons South Lincoln Chapel, 3950 Hohensee Drive.

Memorials to the family for future designation.

Visitation one hour prior to service time.

I knew Allena my friend the last 17 months. She had an outstanding personality and a big heart. I visited with her almost everyday as she shared some of her memories. It was always an honor to see her art work that she sketched everyday. She also enjoyed playing solitaire and reading her bible. I will miss her and never forget her.

I have so many wonderful memories of Allena. She had given me a 100% on a window display that a classmate later pointed out to me had a typo. We were docked a very significant number of points for typos. I walked into her office and before I could say anything she congratulated me on my perfect score. I told her she was going to have to change it because I had a typo and she said, “well, since you’re so honest, just fix it and I won’t take any points off.” 🙂 There was another time I got pulled out of class for a situation at home and she came over to me in the hallway, while I was on the phone, and held my hand. She had a lot of graphic design sayings that stuck with me… put a twinkle in the eye, add a splash of red, always straighten your desk up at the end of the day (which I still do) and you can tell the difference between an amateur and a professional designer by whether or not the letters were kerned. Being a student in her program was one of the happiest times in my life and I’m forever thankful for all the graphic design and life lessons she taught me.
