Allan G. Ensminger, 98, Lincoln, died Wednesday (6-23-10). Born (6-16-12) in Louisville, Kentucky to Harvey M. and Virginia Mae (Krall) Ensminger. Attended Kent State College in Ohio. Moved to Nebraska in 1946 and was employed at Goodyear in management positions for 37 years. Late in his career he was sent to Mexico, Ireland and Iran to establish the V-Belt operations there. Sixty year member of the First United Methodist Church in Waverly where he was a Sunday School teacher for many years.
Founder and member of the Lincoln Iris Society. Traveled extensively, both in the USA and abroad, speaking about and judging Iris. Member of the Nebraska Day Lily Society, Lincoln Garden Club, Lincoln Rose Society, and the Waverly Grange 369.
Family members include daughter, son-in-law: Virginia Faye and Norman Swanson, Waverly; sons, daughters-in-law: Donald Allan and Shirley Ensminger, Mountain Home, AR, Richard Dean and Dorothy Ensminger, Quito, Ecuador; 5 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; brother, sister-in-law: Bruce and Jane Ensminger, Akron, OH; sister-in-law: Lucille Ensminger, Orange City, FL. Preceded in death by wife Gladys, parents, sister Kathryn Cromis, brothers George and Richard, great grandson Christopher Swanson.
Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Saturday (6-26-10) First United Methodist Church, 14410 Folkestone, Waverly, Nebraska. Pastor James Wallasky officiating. Prior private interment.
