Larry G. Fischer

July 28, 1937 - October 19, 2021

Larry G. Fischer was born July 28, 1937 and died October 19, 2021.  Larry grew up on a farm north of Adams, NE, and attended country school thru 8th grade and graduated from Adams High School in 1954.  He married Gail Nickeson on June 10, 1959, at the Methodist Church in Adams.

Larry graduated from the University of Nebraska with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering in 1960 and a Master of Science Degree in Engineering Mechanics in 1962.  Larry joined the U.S. Naval Reserves in 1955 and was discharged in 1963.  Larry worked at Concrete Industries for 40 years, retiring in 2000.  He was active in PCI (Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute).

Larry enjoyed a summer cabin with his family at Lake Leba in Fremont for over 40 years.  He loved playing golf and traveling throughout the United States visiting 49 of 50 states.  Following retirement, Larry and Gail spent 14 years traveling to Orange Beach, Alabama, for a winter getaway.  He was an avid Husker fan, especially Volleyball. Larry was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Larry is survived by his wife, Gail of 62 years; sons Bradley and Russell; grandsons Todd (Myranda) and Aaron; granddaughter Joy; great-grandchildren Nash, Paizley and Lyrik; brother Randy (Judy) Fischer; sister Beth (Joe) Filko; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Jean and Ron Altgilbers; nieces and nephews Brent (Lynn) Fischer, Leigh Fischer (Darren Noble), Jessica Dolan, Cathy (Kevin) Reisinger, Jennifer (Clint) Walter, Michelle (Kevin) Rokke, and Eric Altgilbers.  He was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Opal (Wilson) Fischer.

Funeral Service: 1:00 p.m. Saturday (10-23-21) Roper and Sons South Lincoln Chapel, 3950 Hohensee Drive (40th & Yankee Hill Rd.). Burial in Highland Cemetery, Adams, NE following the service.

Visitation 2 hours prior to service time from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

Memorials may be given to the family or to a donor’s choice.
