Keith Charles Hunt, 59, of Lincoln, NE, was born on July 6, 1954, in Holdrege, NE to Dean and Hazel (Joan) (Ellison) Hunt. Keith lived a short time on a farm by Orleans, NE before moving to the Ragan, NE area. Keith attended Wilcox High School where he participated in football, track and wrestling, graduating in 1972. He then attended Central Community College where he studied Auto Body Repair and Tune-up.
On July 13, 1973 Keith was united in marriage to Patricia Helmick. To this union four children were born, Charles, Benjamin, Christina and Wendi. They lived in the Ragan area where Keith farmed and did custom haying with his dad until 1980. For the next 12 years Keith worked for various farmers in the Holdrege area before becoming a finish carpenter. Keith worked for Wardcraft Homes in Minden, NE until 2000 when his health forced him to retire. In 1998 Keith went back to school and received an Associates degree in Architectural Drafting. In 2001 Keith and Pat moved to the Lincoln area where Keith and Pat were involved in speaking to Guillan-Barre patients about their personal experiences and giving out support information. Keith was also a member of the patient advisory board for the Nebraska Heart Hospital and a driver for the American Red Cross Road to Recovery Program. In his spare time Keith enjoyed woodworking, fishing, camping, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He always had a project to work on with one of his kids or grand kids, they were his life. He also enjoyed working on his own house teaching his wife and kids how to do things.
Keith died at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE on Wednesday. January 8th, 2014, having reached the age of 59 years, 6 months, and 2 days.
Keith was proceeded in death by his father, Dean Hunt, brother, Danny Hunt, and twin grandsons, Hayden and Alexander at birth.
Keith is survived by his wife, Patricia, of Lincoln, NE. Sons, Charles Hunt of Holdrege, NE and Benjamin Hunt of Oxford, NE. Daughters, Christina McClain and husband Louis of Ashland, and Wendi Herrick and fiance Eric Greif of Lincoln, NE. 15 grandchildren, His mother, Joan Hunt of Holdrege, NE, brother Eugene Hunt of Holdrege, NE, and sister Jonell Mueller of Funk, NE.
