Laura Jean Duncombe was promoted to heaven on November 23, 2014 after a tragic fall at home. She was born on August 23, 1935 in Seattle, Washington.
After meeting Geoffrey Duncombe at Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri they were married on August 17, 1957. After graduation Geoff and Laura began 43 years of pastoral ministry in Iowa, Kansas, Arkansas, Nebraska and Wisconsin. She was the consummate pastor’s wife and was dearly loved and respected by the congregations they pastored. Her range of talents and abilities were extensive. She taught Bible classes from toddlers and teens to adults, directed choirs, served as church secretary, and directed large dramas. She also worked for several years as an ophthalmology assistant to an eye surgeon in Lincoln, Nebraska. Most of all it was her loving, caring spirit and reaching out to others that is remembered by all.
She was adored and beloved by her husband, children, grandchildren & great-grandchild. She is survived by her husband of 57 years Geoff, her two children, Craig and Heather and their spouses (Shelly and Alan), grandchildren Andrew, Brooke, Evan, Delaney, twins Donovan & Demi and great grandchild Adalyn. She is also survived by siblings Mary Richards, Ardith Arnold and James Karr of Seattle, Washington.
A Memorial Service will be held at Radiant Church in Lincoln on Monday, December 8, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made through the family for future designation.
