Warren R. Watson, 90, Lincoln, NE, who was always “Simply Grand,” passed away on Tuesday (8-23-11). Born 5-30-1921 in Beatrice, NE to Sidney L. and Hazel B. (McLaughlin) Watson.
Worked at Woodman Accident & Life Insurance Company for 35 years, retiring as a Vice President of the Claims Department. Member of the American Legion Post #1 , Baptized in the Methodist Church, enjoyed spending time with his family. He enjoyed yard work, gardening and sharing his legendary tomatoes with others. Warren was able to mow his grass, on his rider, until his last days. He took pleasure in buying new cars, bargain shopping and taking trips. Graduate of Lincoln High School Class of 1939 and the University of Nebraska Lincoln with a BA degree in History before enlisting in the military. Following his military service he did graduate work at UNL in History. World War II Pilot veteran in the Army Air Corp.
Family members include wife Roberta of Lincoln; grandchildren, Stephanie (Todd) Murphy of Omaha; Zachary (Stacy) Watson of Lincoln; great grandchildren, Teddy and Olivia Murphy and Carter Watson. Step-children, Charles (Anne) Hall of Marietta, GA; Kathryn (John) Kluska of Grand Island; Patty (Jon) Enevoldsen of Lincoln; 7 step grandchildren and 7 step great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Dorothy Watson; niece, Linda (Jerry) Doehling. Preceded in death by parents, first wife, Mildred, son, Craig and brother, Jack Watson.
Memorial Service: 10:30 a.m. Monday (8-29-11) Eastridge Presbyterian Church. Pastor Peter Frazier Koontz, officiating. Private family graveside service at a later date.

Visitation beginning at 2:00pm until 8:00pm Sunday, 8-28-11 with family greeting friends from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Roper and Sons Funeral Home.
