Vernon M. Latrom, 95, Lincoln, passed away on Wednesday (10-21-09) in Syracuse. Born (5-21-14) in Eagle, Nebraska to William J. and Mathilda (Francke) Latrom.
Vernon was known as “Happy” by his dear friends.
Vernon loved the outdoors, sports and gardening. With his parents, he moved to Lincoln in 1923. He graduated from Lincoln High School and attended the University of Nebraska College of Business. Vernon worked with his father as a painter and was later employed by the Lincoln Public Schools for 32 years in the Maintenance Department.
On October 18, 1942, he married Doris Munn Latrom at the First Congregational Church in Omaha.
Family members include wife of 67 years: Doris; daughters, son-in-law: Jean and Larry Schulze, Eagle, Joyce Latrom, Lincoln; granddaughters: Lisa and Amy Schulze; nephew: Bruce Corrick; niece: Janis Corrick. Preceded in death by parents, brother Raymond, sister Gladys Corrick.
Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Friday (10-23-09) Roper and Sons Chapel, 4300 ‘O’ Street. Pastor J. P. Carlson, officiating. Interment in Lincoln Memorial Park at a later date.
Memorials in lieu of flowers to Eastridge Presbyterian Church, 1135 Eastridge Drive (10) or personal choice.
No visitation/cremation.
