Kristina Lynn Klobnak

Kristina Lynn Klobnak, 57, passed away on Thursday, February 9 at Saint Elizabeth Regional Medical Center in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Kris was born on September 4, 1959 in Chicago, Illinois to Dwayne and Vera (Godfrey) Klobnak. After graduating from Twin Cedars High School in Bussey, Iowa in 1977, Kris worked in a variety of retail supervisory positions in Des Moines, Iowa and Lincoln, including 7-Eleven and Best Buy. She continued her education and graduated from Southeast Community College in Lincoln with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Business Administration and Marketing in 1990. In 2001, Kris began working at the City of Lincoln in the Water Department.

Kris had a compassionate soul and a kind, generous heart. She loved animals of all kinds and had a passion for helping any furry friend in need. She was a wonderful cook and especially took pride in making delicious, from-scratch soups. Kris also enjoyed gardening, music, movies, and spending time with her family and friends.

Kris is survived by her brother, James Klobnak of Kansas City, Missouri; sister, Kathryn Klobnak and her husband Dalton Tomlinson of Overland Park, Kansas; uncle, Larry Klobnak of Kansas City, Missouri; aunt, Lucille Godfrey of Bussey, Iowa; nephew, Captain Dalton Nicholas Tomlinson and his wife Sheri of Jacksonville, North Carolina; niece, Drew Tomlinson of Morristown, New Jersey; and a number of cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Pierce and Ollie Godfrey and Andrew and Molly Klobnak; parents, Dwayne and Vera Klobnak; brother, Thomas Klobnak; four aunts, Joan Klobnak, Marie McCoy, Lola Williams, and Joyce Anderson; four uncles, Don and Raymond Godfrey, Dick Williams, and Rex McCoy; cousin, Cheryl McCoy; and sister-in-law, Cynthia Klobnak.

Memorial services for Kris will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 18 in the Roper & Sons’ Chapel at 4300 O Street in Lincoln. Burial and an additional service will take place at the Hamilton Cemetery in Hamilton, Iowa at a later date.

Tributes may be made in Kris’ name to Capital Humane Society of Lincoln.
