James E. “Jim” Jones, 69, of Eagle, NE, died Thursday (5-23-13). Born (1-27-44) in Kearney, NE to Reuben and Arlene (Riesland) Jones. Ret. Farm Service Manager for ASCS in Madison County, NE. Grew up in Amherst, NE and graduated from Amherst High School. He was a graduate of Kearney State College where he played on the first football team to make the playoffs.
Married Sherry Lovitt in Oconto, NE on 8-21-65. Lived in Orleans, NE over 20 years where he was a Commodities Broker, then moved to Battle Creek, NE and retired at age 62 as Farm Services Director with ASCS. Jim enjoyed playing cards, was an avid fisherman and waterfowl hunter. He and Sherry enjoyed camping with their 5th Wheel and going to see their grandchildren.
Survived by his wife, Sherry; children, Tonja (Chris) Peters, Syracuse, NE, Tiffany D. (Gary) Miller, Reed Springs, MO, Tami C. Jones(Bill), Battle Creek, NE, Troy James (Taylor) Jones, Norfolk, NE, Traci Jones, Waverly, NE; 11 grandchildren; sisters, Patricia Berryman, Arizona, Connie Stark, Lincoln, NE, Kathy Dieckman, Grand Island, NE, Vicki Goc, Lincoln, NE. Preceded in death by parents, sister, Rebecka “Bubbles” Jones.
Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday (5-28-13) Roper and Sons Chapel, 4300 ‘O’ Street.
