Dan served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was employed at Brunswick Corporation for 33 years as Storekeeper.
Dan was a past State Commander, past National Inspector General (2005/2006) ,and National Council member of VFW, Veterans Garden board member, AMVETS (PSC and NEC), Stars & Stripes board member, Mad Dads board member, American Legion, Disabled American Veterans (DAV) – Military Order of the Cooties, Admiral of the Great Navy of Nebraska, Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Lincoln Aerie #147, Cotner Lodge #297, AF & AM, Sesostris Temple of the Shrine, and L.I.B.A.
Family members include his sons Chad Petersen (Amy), Bennet and Bryan Petersen, Plainville, KS; grandchildren Connor, Kayden, Tasa, and Alexius. Preceded in death by his parents, wife Caroline, and sister Patricia Bryant.
Funeral service: 1:00 pm Thursday, December 11, 2025. Roper and Sons South Lincoln Chapel, 3950 Hohensee Drive.
