James McKelvey, 85, Lincoln. Died Saturday 3/8/08. Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Retired agent for Metropolitan Life. Born to Juanita (Hopkins) and Ivan McKelvey, and raised in Falls City, NE. Served as a fighter pilot in the South Pacific US Navy during WWII, awarded the Air Medal.
Member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Men’s Club President, usher for 25 years and on various boards. Avid sports fan and peanut brittle maker. Married to Frances J. Steincross in 1944. Children: Doug & Georgia McKelvey, Holmen, WI; Steve & Robin McKelvey, Lincoln; Mary Fran & Bill Fagler, Lincoln. 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents and brother Jack.
