Myrna’s kindness extended to everyone she met. Her gentle spirit and empathetic nature made her a cherished friend to many.
Born in Burke, South Dakota, her family moved to Long Pine, Nebraska, where she spent most of her childhood. Myrna’s family then moved to Valentine, where she graduated from High School. After graduation, she met Jim Bailey, her husband of 63 years; they moved to the West Coast where Jim was stationed in the Navy.
Myrna’s greatest joy was her family. She and Jim had six children and she devoted much of her time to raising them. As her children grew, she worked outside the home as an Administrative Assistant and Nurse’s Aide. By far her favorite job was the time spent at the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, Parks Division.
Myrna took special joy in supporting her children’s sporting events, especially baseball. Jim and Myrna enjoyed cheering on their grandchildren (Christopher, Jeff, Chris, Amy; Jamie, Raeanne, Kimberly, Matthew, Michael; Emilee; Lindsay, Jaron; Carter and Carley) at their many events. She will continue to cheer-in-spirit for her 14 great-grandchildren.
Myrna was an avid gardener and an extremely talented cook, seamstress, painter and crafter. Her specialty was making beautiful Victorian lampshades.
Myrna was preceded in death by her husband Jim, son Craig, parents Jay and Naomi, and sisters Donna and Evelyn.
She is survived by her daughters, Dovi (Rock) Mueller and Christy Bailey; her sons Scott (Diane) Bailey, Steve (Joanne) Bailey, and Brad (Deb) Bailey.
Myrna will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love and compassion will continue to inspire those whose lives she touched. Her memory will be a source of comfort and strength for generations to come.
A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date. Donations to The Cat House (3633 O St, Lincoln, NE 68510) in her name are appreciated.
