Betty L. Wessel

November 24, 1927 - December 10, 2024

Betty Lou Wessel, 97, of Lincoln passed away December 10, 2024. Born November 24, 1927, in Humboldt, NE to Frank and Pearl Lydia (Rexroth) Herr.

Betty worked for Gateway Bank and Vistar as a PBX Operator and Receptionist, retiring after 26 years.

Betty was a member of the St. Mark’s United Methodist Church where she played in the Bell Choir, American Legion Auxiliary, Lincoln PBX Club, Star City Betty Club, and Red Hat Society.

Family members include her daughters Judith (Dennis) Batliner, Cynthia (Joseph) Knight, and Pamela (Patrick) Hemmingsen; son William Wessel, all of Lincoln; grandchildren Jason, Ronn, Misty, Chris, Nick, and Ashley; 9 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, husband Edward, sister Verna Kruse, and daughter-in-law Jodi Wessel.

Memorial service: 11:00 am Tuesday, December 17, 2024, Roper and Sons South Lincoln Chapel, 3950 Hohensee Drive with Pastor Wayne Alloway officiating.

Memorials in lieu of flowers to Shriners Hospital for Children or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
