Allen worked for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for 31 years as a maintenance engineer. He loved Hosta plants.
Family members include his wife, Cheryl; sister Jennifer (Richard) Conway, Lincoln; one niece and three nephew. Preceded in death by his parents and brother Terry Smith.
Memorial service: 2:30 pm Saturday, February 10, 2024, Roper and Sons Midtown Chapel, 4300 ‘O’ Street.
