Darrell grew up on a farm in Crounse, NE, which is now Branched Oak Lake. He attended Crounse Grade School, Malcolm High School, and Nebraska Wesleyan University. He continually checked his digital picture frame for updates on the latest adventures of his youngest grandson, Henry. He enjoyed listening to classic country music, buying new pick-up trucks, and spending his free time on the farm. Darrell also spent many years playing fast pitch softball for the bank teams. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.

Carol and Family, Joan and I are so sorry to learn of Darrell’s passing. We are out of state at this time but wanted to reach out to you with a few quick thoughts. Darrell worked with me for many years and truly was one of the most reliable and conscientious coworkers I have ever known. He came to UBT just grateful to get a job, and left it as a key contributor to the bank’s operations division. A stickler for details, Darrell worked behind the scenes to make sure things were always done right. We had many laughs together, and shared a passion for new vehicles, to help the economy of course. I’ll never forget his passion for life and commitment to his family. Darrell was one of those good guys we could all learn a lot from, and are better off for knowing him. May God’s peace and strength be with you all.
