Obituary

Cameron Paul Richardson

October 18, 1954 - June 24, 2022

Cameron Paul Richardson passed away at Bryan Medical Center East in Lincoln, NE on June 24, 2022. He was 67 years old.

Cam was born in Colorado Springs, CO on October 18, 1954 to Verne and Bertha Richardson. Family lore describes his father as jumping for joy, exclaiming, “it’s a boy!”

He graduated from Miami-Yoder High School where he was an outstanding member of the basketball team.

He spent a couple of years in his early 20s in Alaska, working at his cousin Spencer’s bar, The Call of the Wild, on Big Lake. Whether true or not, it was rumored that Cam arrived in Alaska with a van load of contraband Coors Banquet Beer, which was unavailable in the state at the time.

For reasons known only to him, much of Cam’s working life involved driving. He delivered newspapers, pizzas, Krispy Kreme donuts, Snow White linens and auto parts. For 10 years, he delivered mail for the Yoder Post Office. He also spent some time growing a cattle herd.

In his leisure time, Cam played summer league softball and enjoyed movies and music. Before Google, Cam was the one you called with trivia questions about music and bands. He also played an outstanding villain in multiple plays for the Edison Volunteer Fire Department fund raisers.

In the fall of 2020, Cam and his wife, Sharon, and their cats, moved to a lovely home in Beatrice, NE to be closer to her family.

Cam is survived by his wife of 24 years, Sharon, and her children, Jason and Angela, and Cam’s children, Zachary and Selena. Other family members include Cam’s sisters, Heather, Cynthia and Rebecca and Sharon’s siblings, Cheryl, Paula, Gail and Wayan. Cam was preceded in death by parents Verne and Marie Richardson and Bertha and Mike Kenney.

Cam has been cremated and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on July 15 at Roper & Sons South Chapel in Lincoln. Interment will be in Beatrice.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Heart or Diabetes Association.
