He enlisted in the USAF in WWII and served as a waist gunner on a B-17 in Italy. On returning from the service, he married the girl of his dreams, Jane Spomer and together they formed Hacker Construction Co. Jim was a longtime member and past president of the Lincoln Home Builders Assn. He also served for a number of years on the Lincoln Lancaster Planning Commission. Jim was a past president of Hillcrest Country Club, and a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife, Jane; his brother, John, of Portland, Ore.; two sons, Thomas, of Greenwood Village, Colo. and Robert, of Hawaii; and six grandchildren.
A private family service will be held and burial will be at Lincoln Memorial Park.
