Kolby is survived by his mother, Angie (Ossenkop) Elliott Cathey, and stepfather, David Alan Cathey; brothers Hunter and Colton Elliott; stepbrothers Josh and Noah Cathey; grandparents Gary and Jan Ossenkop and step-grandmother Maggie Sullivan; aunts and uncles: Lori Elliott and Denneal Stauffer; Les and Sheila Elliott; Linda and Mike Auman; Mike and Kelli Ossenkop; Johnnie Cathey; Nick and Pat Cathey; Nancy Putman; Kerry Julian; Kim Nissen; Shanna Tramp; and many cousins. He is predeceased by his father, Larry Elliott; uncle Gary Ossenkop, Jr.; grandparents Dewayne and Lorraine Elliott; and step-grandfather Tom Sullivan.
In 2021, Kolby graduated from Waverly High School and began an apprenticeship with Action Plumbing and Heating. Kolby loved trucks, skateboarding, music, clothes, horses, and his dog, but more than anything, he loved his family and friends and helping and bringing happiness to others.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 13, 2022, at Capitol City Christian Church, 7800 Holdrege St., Lincoln, with a reception to follow. Attire that reflects Kolby’s personality encouraged.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
