Rev. Elmer J. Whitbeck, 92, of Sterling, NE, passed away March 21, 2018. He was born January 1, 1926, in Underwood, PA, to Frank Arthur & Elizabeth (Coates) Whitbeck. Rev. Whitbeck was a minister to many churches in South Dakota, Wyoming, and Kansas, and he served as a counselor at Back to the Bible Broadcast, retiring in 1988. He was a member of Lincoln Berean Church, a WWII U.S. Marine Corps veteran serving in the Marine Air Warning Squadron #11; a graduate of Nyack College with a THB degree; and an ordained conservative Baptist minister.
Family members include his wife of 68 years, Mary Ruth Whitbeck; sons & spouses, Gordon (Bonnie Sue) Whitbeck, Robert (Wei) Whitbeck; daughters & spouses, Bonnie Ruth (Rev. Dean) Patterson, Robyn (Ed) Milligan, Esther (Matt) Stolz; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Jeanne Whitbeck; and nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by parents and two brothers, Frank and Merle.
Funeral Service: 11:00a.m. Tuesday, 3/27/18, at Roper & Sons South Lincoln Chapel, 3950 Hohensee Dr (40th & Yankee Hill Rd).
