Roper & Sons
family welcomes Metcalf Funeral Homes
Lincoln, NE — January 30, 2004 Roper & Sons is
pleased to announce the acquisition of Metcalf Funeral Homes,
with
locations in Lincoln, Ceresco, and Firth.
The Roper and Metcalf families have
a long and shared history of serving the Lincoln community.
Metcalf founder Robert
Metcalf began his career as a funeral director with Roper & Sons
before founding Metcalf Funeral Homes in 1961. Prior to Robert
Metcalf's death in 2002, the firm was sold to a national
funeral chain. Now that the firm is again under local ownership,
the Metcalf family has expressed their appreciation of the
reunion with Roper & Sons. Tom Roper, Roper & Sons
General Manager said, "I know this is a move that would
have pleased Bob. Our families have always shared similar
values and we, like Robert Metcalf, will serve every family
with honesty,
integrity, and dignity. Nothing less is acceptable."
Roper added, "We are proud to have Metcalf as part of
the Roper & Sons Family. Metcalf Funeral Homes will operate
independently and uphold the true Metcalf tradition." Roper
confirmed that all existing prearrangements made with Metcalf
will be honored in full.
Roper & Sons has a long-standing dedication to Lincoln
and Southeast Nebraska, and a belief that locally-owned businesses
strengthen the community. The acquisition of Metcalf Funeral
Homes offers Roper & Sons the ability to extend its Outreach
efforts to new communities within Lincoln, as well as to
the Ceresco and Firth areas. |
